Diana Turbay was a Colombian journalist and television presenter. She was born on November 9, 1950, in Bogotá, Colombia. Turbay was known for her work as a journalist for several major Colombian news outlets, including the newspaper El Tiempo and the television station RCN TV.
Turbay was kidnapped by the Medellín Cartel, led by drug lord Pablo Escobar, on August 30, 1990. Despite efforts by the Colombian government and international authorities to secure her release, Turbay was tragically killed during a rescue attempt by the Colombian police on January 25, 1991.
Her kidnapping and subsequent death shocked the nation of Colombia and brought attention to the dangers faced by journalists covering organized crime and drug trafficking in the country.
